For surgery, the MedArmor™ Underglove may be used the original time and then reprocessed five additional times according to the instructions below.

1. Submerge the undergloves in a solution consisting of one part Hibiclens® to thirty-one parts water for one hour, if the gloves are compromised with blood.

2. Rinse the undergloves with water.

3. Air dry.

4. Visually inspect the undergloves for unraveled threads, holes, or other signs of damage.  Discard damaged undergloves.

5. Mark each underglove to indicate the number of uses.

6. Repackage the undergloves for sterilization.

7. Sterilize according to one of the methods below.

Steam heat/Autoclave Two-hundred and seventy degrees for a four minute cycle.  Allow 5 to 20 minutes of dry time.

ETO Normal cycle with the addition of four vacuum cycles and a minimum of 48 hours aeration to ensure safe levels of ETO residuals.

These reprocessing instructions will maximize the life of the MedArmor™ undergloves.  Light machine drying can be used to accelerate the drying process, but must be done on low heat.  Machine washing may stretch the undergloves and is not recommended.  Mechanical washing and drying accelerate the deterioration of the Kevlar® knit. CAUTION  Do not expose the MedArmor™ undergloves to chorine bleach or products containing chlorine, as this will destroy the Kevlar®.  Chlorine in municipal water supplies is not a problem.  Do not expose MedArmor undergloves to direct sunlight; excessive exposure to ultraviolet radiation accelerates the degration of Kevlar®.
